1. In paragraph 34 of resolution 53/208 B of 18 December 1998, on pattern of conferences, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit a report on the impact of economy measures on the delivery of mandated conference services to the Assembly at its fifty-third session.
١ - طلبت الجمعية العامة من اﻷمين العام، في الفقرة ٣٤ من قرارها ٥٣/٢٠٨ باء المتخذ في ١٨ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨، بشأن خطة المؤتمرات، أن يقدم إلى الجمعية في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين تقريرا عن أثر تدابير الاقتصاد على إنجاز خدمات المؤتمرات التي صدرت بها تكليفات.

The Advisory Committee also draws attention to the reports of the Secretary-General on improved utilization of conference facilities at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (A/53/827) and on the impact of economy measures on the delivery of mandated conference services (A/53/833) (for the Committee’s comments, see chap. I above).

The Committee took note of the programme narrative on General Assembly affairs and conference services of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2000–2001 contained in A/54/6 (section 2) and the report of the Secretary-General on the impact of economy measures on the delivery of mandated conference services (A/53/833).
١٥٠ - أحاطت اللجنة علما بالسرد البرنامجي المتعلق بإدارة شؤون الجمعية العامة وخدمات المؤتمرات في الميزانية البرنامجية المقترحة لفترة السنتين ٢٠٠٠-٢٠٠١ الوارد في الوثيقة A/54/6 )الباب ٢( وبتقرير اﻷمين العام عن أثر تدابير الاقتصاد على إنجاز خدمات المؤتمرات (A/53/833).

The Committee will also consider the report of the Secretary-General on the impact of economy measures on the delivery of mandated conference services (A/53/833), which was submitted to the General Assembly at its resumed fifty-third session in accordance with paragraph 34 of resolution 53/208 B of 18 December 1998.

Mr. Sulaiman (Syrian Arab Republic), referring to the use of modern technology mentioned in the report on the impact of economy measures on the delivery of mandated conference services (A/53/833, para.16), said that his delegation was in favour of the increased use of technological innovations at the United Nations provided that the quality of services provided was not affected.

At its 422nd and 423rd meetings, on 1 September, the Committee considered the programme narrative on General Assembly affairs and conference services of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2000–2001 (A/54/6 (sect. 2)) and the report of the Secretary-General on the impact of economy measures on the delivery of mandated conference services (A/53/833).
