Additionally, the Meeting made recommendations on the evaluation and reporting mechanisms relating to paragraphs 4 and 6 of part II of Annex B (i.e. processes, requirement and resources for generating quality advisories to the COP).

Under paragraph 6 of part II of Annex B of the Convention, the Conference of the Parties is required, commencing at its first meeting and at least every three years thereafter, to evaluate the continued need for DDT in disease vector control;

1. Parties that use DDT are required by the Convention to submit reports to the Secretariat and the World Health Organization on the amount used, the conditions of its use and its relevance to their disease management strategies every three years (as set out in paragraph 4 of part II of Annex B).

Eightysix of the reporting Parties indicated they had not used DDT, while nine per cent indicated that they had and that they had submitted reports on their DDT use as required by paragraph 4 of part II of Annex B to the Convention.
