97. The Declaration on the Use of scientific and technological progress in the Interests of Peace and for the Benefit of Mankind contains the following provisions:
٧٩- ويتضمن اﻹعلان الخاص باستخدام التقدم العلمي والتكنولوجي لصالح السلم وخير البشرية اﻷحكام التالية:

Enabling individuals to contribute to and benefit from the fruits of scientific and technological progress and acknowledging the importance of their independence and humanity and of openness to other cultures and of learning from their experiences
تمكين الفرد من الإسهام في التقدم العلمي والتكنولوجي والاستفادة من ثمارها مع تأكيد استقلاليته وإنسانيته، والانفتاح على الثقافات الإنسانية الأخرى والانتفاع بتجاربها.

The IWSP was to respond the call of the UN resolution of the 43rd UN General Assembly in 1988, which called on countries in the world to organize relevant activities to advocate the role of scientific and technological progress in safeguarding world peace and promoting human progress.

1. Calls upon all Member States to ensure that the achievements of scientific and technological progress and the intellectual potential of mankind are used for promoting and encouraging universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;
١ - تطلب الى جميع الدول اﻷعضاء أن تكفل استخدام منجزات التقدم العلمي والتكنولوجي والامكانات الفكرية للبشرية من أجل تعزيز وتشجيع الاحترام العالمي لحقوق الانسان والحريات اﻷساسية؛

We call attention to the need to promote closer international cooperation in the peaceful use of scientific and technological progress, which would help to promote sustainable economic development for all States.
