The outcome of these efforts was that the representatives of the States Parties in question had the tools and information necessary to carry out their responsibilities. The ISU also supported the Article 5 extensions process by preparing, supporting and carrying out follow-up activities associated with six meetings of the group of States Parties mandated to analyse Article 5 extension requests.

1. In 2013, for the sixth year in a row, the group of States Parties mandated to analyse requests submitted under Article 5 of the Convention carried out its work.
1- أنجزت مجموعة الدول الأطراف المكلفة بتحليل الطلبات المقدمة بموجب المادة 5 من الاتفاقية عملها في عام 2013 للسنة السادسة على التوالي.

The chair of the group of States Parties mandated to prepare analyses (i.e., the 8MSP President) emphasised the importance of working in close collaboration with requesting States Parties and that the analysis process should be a cooperative one.
35- وأكد رئيس مجموعة الدول الأطراف المكلفة بإعداد التحليلات (أي رئيس الاجتماع الثامن للدول الأطراف) أهمية العمل في إطار تعاون وثيق مع الدول الأطراف الطالبة للتمديد كما أوصى بأن تقوم عملية التحليل على التعاون.

It was further noted that the commitment required on the part of States Parties mandated to prepare analyses may have been too great for many, that participation in the analysis process was mixed and that the work load associated with this task should be taken into account by States Parties considering proposing that they serve as Co-Rapporteurs / Co-Chairs.
كما لوحظ أن حجم الالتزام المطلوب من الدول الأطراف المكلفة بتحليل الطلبات ربما فاق طاقة الكثير منها، وأن المشاركة في عملية التحليل تفاوتت وأن الدول الأطراف التي تفكر في التطوع لتولي مناصب المقررين المتشاركين/الرؤساء المتشاركين ينبغي أن تضع في اعتبارها عبء العمل المتصل بهذه المهمة.

(b) The ISU will prepare, support and carry out follow-up activities associated with approximately eight to twelve meetings of the group of States Parties mandated to analyse Article 5 extension requests.

3. Following up on a recommendation of the President of the Second Review Conference, the President, assisted by the ISU and with financial support provided by Norway, convened a workshop on 7 March 2011 for the representatives of States Parties mandated to analyse requests to increase their knowledge and expertise with respect to the technical subject matter contained within Article 5.

The 10MSP President acted on this recommendation, with assistance from the ISU and financial support from Norway, and convened a workshop on 7 March 2011 to increase the knowledge and build the capacity of representatives of States Parties mandated to analyse requests.

17. While there was widespread appreciation for the 7 March 2011 workshop for representatives of States Parties mandated to analyse requests, it was observed in 2011 that the analysis process requires a renewed commitment from Co-chairs and Co-rapporteurs.
