In 2008, Member States were requested to report on their implementation of the Guidelines on Justice in Matters involving Child Victims and Witnesses of Crime, adopted by the Economic and Social Council in its resolution 2005/20.

The Committee recommends that the State party ensure, through adequate legal provisions and regulations, that all children victims and/or witnesses of crimes are provided with the protection required by the Convention and that the State party take full account of the Guidelines on Justice in Matters involving Child Victims and Witnesses of Crime.

(31) The Committee, while noting with appreciation the interest taken by the State party to ensure the implementation of the Guidelines on Justice in Matters involving Child Victims and Witnesses of Crime (Economic and Social Council resolution 2005/20), nevertheless notes that some child victims of prostitution may be treated as offenders rather than as victims.

A child-friendly version of the Guidelines on Justice in Matters involving Child Victims and Witnesses of Crime (Economic and Social Council resolution 2005/20, annex) had also been developed in the six official languages of the United Nations (in CD-ROM and in print) in cooperation with UNICEF, the UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre and the International Bureau for Children's Rights.

On the issue of juvenile justice and human rights, the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice has considered reports of the Secretary-General on support of national efforts for child justice reform, in particular through technical assistance and improved United Nations system-wide coordination, and on Implementation of the Guidelines on Justice in Matters involving Child Victims and Witnesses of Crime.
