Ms. Neubauer said that the report reflected the important role of the Jordanian National Commission for Women and Government efforts to promote the advancement of women in all walks of life, including through the establishment of various national councils and the development of a number of strategies which, if properly implemented, would benefit Jordanian women.

(a) Ensure that in the implementation of the Jordanian National Plan of Action for Children 2004-2013 attention is paid and adequate resources are allocated to the special needs of children with disabilities and that the various aspects of disability are taken into account in all relevant policymaking and national planning;
(أ) ضمان الاهتمام، لدى تنفيذ خطة العمل الوطنية الأردنية من أجل الأطفال 2004 -2013، باحتياجات الأطفال المعوقين الخاصة وتخصيص موارد كافية من أجل تلبيتها وضمان أخذ مختلف جوانب الإعاقة في الحسبان عند وضع السياسات والخطط الوطنية ذات الصلة؛

3. Ms. Corti welcomed the progress made in various areas, including the fact that, for the first time in the history of Jordan, there was a woman Deputy Prime Minister. As the issue of decision-making posts for women and their entry into politics was a crucial one in all countries, it seemed that the role of the Jordanian National Committee for Women should be much stronger in that area.

114. In part 5 of chapter VI of the Jordanian National Charter specific reference is made to persons with disabilities. The text states that persons with disabilities who are members of Jordanian society are entitled to be provided with special care, education, training, rehabilitation and access to employment so as to help them to overcome the difficulties that they face and to live their lives as productive members of society.
