The Friends of the Secretary-General on the question of Haiti have the honour to request that the text of the enclosed statement be circulated as a document of the Security Council.
يتشرف أصدقاء اﻷمين العام بشأن مسألة هايتي بأن يلتمسوا تعميم نص البيان المرفق كوثيقة من وثائق مجلس اﻷمن.

Regrettably, such a change has not occurred despite numerous efforts made on my behalf by my Special Representative as well as by the Friends of the Secretary-General on the question of Haiti to break the existing impasse.

The attention of the Commission on Human Rights is also drawn to the progress report of the Secretary-General on the question of East Timor (A/51/361) of 16 September 1996 in which he refers to the talks held between the Governments of Indonesia and Portugal in the framework of his continuing good offices.
٤- ويُسترعى أيضا اهتمام لجنة حقوق الانسان الى التقرير المرحلي لﻷمين العام بشأن مسألة تيمور الشرقية )A/51/361( المؤرخ في ١٦ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٩٦، والذي أشار فيه الى المحادثات التي جرت بين حكومة اندونيسيا وحكومة البرتغال في اطار مساعيه الحميدة المتواصلة.
