III. Activities of the Special Rapporteur on Disability

5. Takes note of the third global survey undertaken by the office of the Special Rapporteur on Disability in collaboration with the World Health Organization;

Substantive support, on request, to initiatives of Governments to implement further international instruments related to social policies and planning, social institutions and participation and social integration, including substantive support of activities financed by general trust funds in the social development field, such as activities of the Special Rapporteur on Disability and their follow-up.

The Commission also requested the Secretary-General to transmit to the Commission at its fifty-ninth session the latest report of the Special Rapporteur on Disability of the Commission for Social Development on his monitoring of the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.

12. Ms. Tomar (India) said her delegation considered that the work of the Special Rapporteur on Disability of the Commission for Social Development was very relevant for the Third Committee, which later would be addressing the issue of a comprehensive international convention on the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.
