In the course of the session, the secretariat would present some of the latest developments in the field of trade-supporting services.

The Division will analyse the situation of trade-supporting services from the viewpoint of small and medium-sized enterprises, and will propose solutions based on the reform of policies, the dissemination of best practices, the use of modern, wide-reaching training tools, and of information technologies and global networks, with particular attention being paid to electronic commerce.

Objective: To facilitate the generation of trade-supporting services (such as customs, transport, banking and insurance, telecommunications and business information) in developing and least-developed countries and countries with economies in transition.
الهـــــدف: تيسير إقامة الخدمات الداعمة للتجارة )مثل الجمارك، والنقل، واﻷعمال المصرفية والتأمين والاتصالات السلكية واللاسلكية والمعلومات التجارية( في البلدان النامية والبلدان التي تمر اقتصاداتها بمرحلة انتقالية.

Its commercial diplomacy, TRAINMAR and TRAINFORTRADE programmes have a major potential to help countries cooperate to meet developmental needs through the conduct of their own training in the field of trade-supporting services.
كما أن دبلوماسية الأونكتاد التجارية وبرنامج التدريب في مجال النقل البحري (TRAINMAR) وبرنامج التدريب في مجال التجارة الخارجية (TRAINFORTRADE) تنطوي على إمكانات كبرى لمساعدة البلدان على التعاون لتلبية احتياجاتها الإنمائية من خلال قيامها ببرامج التدريب الخاصة بها في ميدان الخدمات الداعمة للتجارة.

8. The role of trade-supporting services has attained greater importance due to global trends of recent years.

Seven groups, representing the different points of view of government, public and private business sectors and different levels of development, each met and discussed the status of trade-supporting services and their potential for improvement through HRD.
وتشكلت بذلك سبع مجموعات تمثل مختلف وجهات نظر الحكومات والقطاع العام والقطاع التجاري الخاص ومستويات إنمائية مختلفة، والتقت كل مجموعة وناقشت حالة خدمات الدعم التجاري وإمكانات هذه الخدمات في التحسين من خلال تنمية الموارد البشرية.

The representative of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations (FIATA) expressed the interest and commitment of the freight forwarding industry, nationally and internationally, in respect of supporting UNCTAD in the promotion and further development of trade-supporting services in the field of transportation and the import and export of manufactured and semi-manufactured goods.
٣٦- أما ممثل الاتحاد الدولي لرابطات وكلاء الشحن )FIATA( فقد أعرب عن اهتمام والتزام صناعة الشحن على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي بدعم اﻷونكتاد في تعزيز ومواصلة تطوير خدمات دعم التجارة في ميدان النقل واستيراد وتصدير السلع المصنعة وشبه المصنعة.

(b) The contribution of technical cooperation activities to improving the efficiency of trade-supporting services of developing countries and countries with economies in transition benefiting from technical cooperation activities in areas such as transport, trade facilitation, customs, logistics and electronic commerce.
