In the annual report of the Security Council, my delegation takes note of the ongoing efforts by the Security Council's Informal Working Group on Documentation and Other Procedural Questions to find ways of improving the report.

In that respect, we warmly welcome the note by the Informal Working Group on Documentation and Other Procedural Questions that was adopted by the Security Council yesterday.

The informal working group on Documentation and procedures met in order to formalize a proposal made by the Argentine delegation, with a view to enabling members of the Council newly elected by the General Assembly to attend informal consultations as observers one month prior to the beginning of their respective mandates.

Besides, substantive servicing was also provided to 13 sanctions and counter-terrorism committees and one counter-terrorism working group, the Informal Working Group on Documentation and Other Procedural Questions, and the Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa.

We also note the work of Ambassador Oshima and his colleagues in the Security Council Informal Working Group on Documentation and Other Procedural Questions. A number of the ideas produced in those forums may ultimately improve the effectiveness of the Council.
ونحيط علماً كذلك بعمل السفير أوشيما وزملائه في فريق مجلس الأمن العامل غير الرسمي المعني بوثائق المجلس والأمور الإجرائية الأخرى، فبعض الأفكار التي تفتق عنها هذا المنتدى يمكن أن تحسن فعالية هذا المجلس في نهاية المطاف.

In that connection, Slovakia welcomes and fully supports the outcome of the intensive work of the Security Council's Informal Working Group on Documentation and Other Procedural Questions as already presented in the debate by its Chair, the Permanent Representative of Japan, Ambassador Oshima.

In that spirit, while welcoming the action taken by the Council's Informal Working Group on Documentation and Other Procedural Questions, as recognition of some of the problems that exist, we believe that that action remains inadequate, both in terms of substance as well as of procedure.
