Having examined the report of the Subcommittee on Small Territories, Petitions, Information and Assistance,

39. At its 1412th meeting, on 10 February, the Special Committee decided to maintain the Subcommittee on Small Territories, Petitions, Information and Assistance consisting of the entire membership of the Committee.
٣٩ - قررت اللجنة الخاصة، في جلستها ١٤١٢، المعقودة في ١٠ شباط/فبراير، اﻹبقاء على اللجنة الفرعية المعنية باﻷقاليم الصغيرة والالتماسات والمعلومات والمساعدة وتتألف من أعضاء اللجنة الخاصة جميعهم.

In that connection, the Committee took note of an appeal adopted by its Subcommittee on Small Territories, Petitions, Information and Assistance and endorsed the proposal at the same meeting.
وفي هذا الصدد، أحاطت اللجنة علما بنداء اعتمدته اللجنة الفرعية المعنية باﻷقاليم الصغيرة والالتماسات والمعلومات والمساعدة وأيدت الاقتراح في الجلسة ذاتها.

That problem could be partially solved through a reprogramming of existing resources, such as the possibility of reviewing the relevance of the Subcommittee on Small Territories, Petitions, Information and Assistance.

٣٣ - قررت اللجنة الخاصة، في جلستها ١٤٥٤، المعقودة في ١٦ شباط/فبراير، اﻹبقاء على اللجنة الفرعية المعنية باﻷقاليم الصغيرة والالتماسات والمعلومات والمساعدة التي تتألف من أعضاء اللجنة الخاصة جميعهم.

The Committee further decided that the item should be considered in its plenary meetings and, as appropriate, by its Subcommittee on Small Territories, Petitions, Information and Assistance, in connection with its examination of specific Territories.

By organizing its programme of work effectively, holding extensive consultations and having integrated the Subcommittee on Small Territories, Petitions, Information and Assistance, the Committee had been able to curtail considerably the number of its formal meetings.
وتمكنت اللجنة من تقليل عدد جلساتها الرسمية كثيرا بالتنظيم الفعال لبرنامج عملها وإجراء مشاورات مستفيضة وإدماج اللجنة الفرعية المعنية باﻷقاليم الصغيرة والالتماسات والمعلومات والمساعدة.

The representatives of small Territories should be encouraged to participate in the meetings of the Special Committee and its Subcommittee on Small Territories, Petitions, Information and Assistance, and they should be given the means to facilitate their doing so.
وطالب بمشاركة ممثلي اﻷقاليم الصغيرة في اجتماعات اللجنة الخاصة ولجنتها الفرعية المعنية باﻷقاليم الصغيرة وبأن تتاح لهم الوسائل والتسهيلات ليتمكنوا من القيام بذلك.

39. The CHAIRMAN said that he took it there was general agreement on the proposal in document A/AC.109/L.1841, paragraph 1, that the Committee should maintain its Working Group and its Subcommittee on Small Territories.
٣٩ - الرئيس: قال إنه يعتبر أن هناك اتفاقا عاما حول المقترح الوارد في الفقرة ١ من الوثيقة A/AC.109/L.1841، بأن تبقي اللجنة على فريقها العامل ولجنتها الفرعية المعنية باﻷقاليم الصغيرة.

In particular, the resolution on Small Territories was a step in the right direction.
