4. The Special Rapporteur visited Geneva from 5 to 10 December 2004 to attend the third meeting of experts on traditional and new forms of mercenary activities (see E/CN.4/2005/23).

In its resolution 62/145, the General Assembly requested the Working Group to hold regional consultations on traditional and new forms of mercenary activities as a means of violating human rights and impeding the exercise of the right of peoples to self-determination, in particular regarding the effects of the activities of private military and security companies on the enjoyment of human rights.
50- طلبت الجمعية العامة، في قرارها 62/145، من الفريق العامل عقد مشاورات إقليمية حول الأشكال التقليدية والجديدة لأنشطة المرتزقة كأداة لانتهاك حقوق الإنسان وإعاقة ممارسة حق الشعوب في تقرير مصيرها، وبشكل خاص فيما يتعلق بآثار أنشطة الشركات العسكرية والأمنية الخاصة على التمتع بحقوق الإنسان().
