The Chairman reminded the Committee of some of the current humanitarian crises requiring attention, notably in Sudan, but also noted the emerging opportunities opening today for voluntary repatriation of many refugees who had been in exile, in some cases for decades, and encouraged the pursuit of better collaboration between States, UNHCR, and a growing number of other intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
