The Lebanese authorities and UNIFIL immediately launched an investigation into the incident. This was the third attack against UNIFIL since the adoption of resolution 1701 (2006), in addition to other failed attacks against the Mission, on which I have previously reported (see S/2007/392 and S/2007/641). This latest attack was perpetrated outside the area of operations along UNIFIL's main supply route with the Lebanese capital.
