In order to acknowledge the efforts of those countries that were striving to achieve sustainable development while incurring high costs in doing so and to make up for short-term pains which would lead to long-term gains, Jordan proposed the creation of an incentive plan to encourage and assist those countries with outstanding records in the achievement of sustainable development, on the basis of objective evaluation criteria.
٤٦ - وأضاف قائلا إن اﻷردن، بقصد الاعتراف بالجهود التي تبذلها البلدان التي تجهد لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة في الوقت الذي تتكبد بفعلها هذا تكاليف مرتفعة، والتعويض عن اﻵلام القصيرة اﻷجل التي ستؤدي إلى مكاسب طويلة اﻷجل، قد اقترح وضع خطة حوافز لتشجيع ومساعدة البلدان ذات السجلات البارزة في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة، وذلك على أساس معايير تقييم موضوعية.
