A. Summary of Parties’ views on “best practices”

Parties' views on this issue are quite varied; some countries deemed that the secretariat or an independent company could be tasked with the selection of documentary sources, while others strongly affirmed that the choice belongs only to national focal points.

The CGE discussed the consolidated report of Parties' views on its preliminary report to the subsidiary bodies and the current progress of the process aimed at improvement of the guidelines for subsequent national communications from non-Annex I Parties, contained in document FCCC/SBI/2001/11.

It requested the secretariat to continue to improve the CRF Reporter in response to the Parties' views referred to in paragraph 108 above and the outcomes of SBSTA 38, with a view to making an improved version of the CRF Reporter available to Parties for testing in the fourth quarter of 2013.
