With a view to facilitating the use of national minority personal names, the resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania of 31 January 1991 " On the writing of names in the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania " envisages a possibility for persons of non-Lithuanian ethnicity to choose between having their names written with or without Lithuanian endings.
