The membership of the Network of Asia-Pacific Education and Training Institutes in Tourism was further expanded, and by the end of 2007 had 238 members in 43 countries and areas, contributing to strengthened Government capacity to formulate policies to enhance the role of tourism in socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

The Expert Meeting on the Development Dimension of FDI: policies to enhance the role of FDI in Support of the Competitiveness of the Enterprise Sector and the Economic Performance of Host Economies, Taking into Account the Trade/Investment Interface, in the National and International Context was held at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, from 6 to 8 November 2002.

3. The Commission on Investment, Technology and Related Financial issues decided to convene an Intergovernmental Expert Meeting on the Development Dimension of FDI: policies to enhance the role of FDI in Support of the Competitiveness of the Enterprise Sector and the Economic Performance of Host Economies, taking into account the Trade/Investment Interface, in the National and International Context.
3- قررت لجنة الاستثمار والتكنولوجيا والقضايا المالية المتصلة بذلك أن تعقد اجتماعاً لفريق خبراء حكومي دولي يُعنى بالبعد الإنمائي للاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر: السياسات الرامية إلى تعزيز دور الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر في دعم القدرة التنافسية لقطاع المشاريع والأداء الاقتصادي للاقتصادات المضيفة مع مراعاة نقاط الالتقاء بين التجارة والاستثمار، في السياقين الوطني والدولي.

For its consideration of the substantive agenda item, the Expert Meeting had before it a note by the UNCTAD secretariat entitled " The development dimension of foreign direct investment: policies to enhance the role of FDI, in the national and international context - Policy issues to consider " (TD/B/COM.2/EM.12/2).

6 To facilitate the discussions, the UNCTAD secretariat is preparing an issues note on " The development dimension of FDI: policies to enhance the role of FDI in support of the competitiveness of the enterprise sector and the economic performance of host economies, taking into account the trade/investment interface, in the national and international context " .
