Mr. Poulin (Canada), speaking also on behalf of Australia and New Zealand on agenda item 150, said that, while the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) had made progress in key areas, the recent unrest caused by the food prices crisis clearly illustrated the precariousness of the situation on the ground and the need for a robust United Nations presence in the area.
