To review progress made in the fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, in particular since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and to reappraise the obstacles to further progress in the field and ways to overcome them.
استعراض التقدم المحرز في مكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري ورهاب الأجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب، وخاصة منذ اعتماد الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان، وإعادة تقييم العقبات التي تعترض سبيل مواصلة التقدم في هذا الميدان وسبل التغلب عليها.

The Government is of the opinion that such a conference will be instrumental, not only for much—needed awareness— raising but also to review the progress made in the fight against racism, assess the effectiveness of the methods and mechanisms used so far and, if need be, develop new standards.

In paragraph 49 of the resolution the Commission requested the High Commissioner to prepare questionnaires to review progress made in the fight against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance and to reappraise the obstacles to further progress in the field and ways to overcome them.

43. Turkey supports the idea of holding a third world conference on racism. It might prove instrumental not only to much needed awareness-raising but also to reviewing progress made in the fight against racism, to assessing the effectiveness of the methods used so far and, if need be, to developing new standards and instruments.
٣٤ - وتؤيد تركيا فكرة عقد مؤتمر عالمي ثالث بشأن العنصرية، قد يكون شديد اﻷهمية لا لمجرد عملية الارتقاء بالوعي المنشودة وإنما أيضا لاستعراض التقدم المحرز في مكافحة العنصرية وتقييم فعالية الطرائق المستخدمة حتى اﻵن، ووضع معايير وأدوات جديدة إذا دعت الحاجة إلى ذلك.

34. In pursuance of the recommendations of the Working Group of the Commission on Human Rights and in accordance with resolution 1999/78, paragraph 49 (a), the Office of the High Commissioner had prepared a questionnaire as a basis for reviewing the progress made in the fight against racism and the obstacles encountered; it was sent to States, the specialized agencies, international and non-governmental organizations and national institutions.
٣٤ - عملا بالتوصيات الصادرة عن الفريق العامل التابع للجنة حقوق اﻹنسان، ووفقا للفقرة ٤٩ )أ( من القرار ١٩٩٩/٧٨ أعدت المفوضية استبيانا يتيح بحث التقدم المحرز في مكافحة العنصرية والعقبات التي تعترضها وأرسل إلى الدول والوكالات المتخصصة والمنظمات الدولية والمنظمات غير الحكومية والمؤسسات الوطنية.
