55. Mr. Rahamtalla (Sudan) said that Israel's violations of the rights of the Palestinians, which took the form of restrictions on freedom of movement through checkpoints, curfews and other measures which impeded normal activity, must be brought to an end.

With reference to Security Council resolution 2046 (2012) and the obligation contained in paragraph 1 (vii) regarding the withdrawal of our forces from Abyei, I have the honour to enclose herewith a letter from Rahamtalla Mohamed Osman, Under-Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which confirms our commitment in this regard (see annex).

I have the honour to enclose herewith a letter from Mr. Rahamtalla Mohamed Osman, Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the so-called new map of the Republic of South Sudan, which was endorsed by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of South Sudan on 11 May 2012 (see annex).

Mr. Rahamtalla (Sudan) said that it had been revealed at a press conference given by the Department of State shortly after the United States Government had issued the executive order concerning economic sanctions against his country, that the blockade had been intended to bring pressure to bear on his Government even as peace talks were being held in Nairobi with the rebel movement.
