Convinced that the adoption of the declaration will contribute towards strengthening the role and enhancing the effectiveness of the United Nations and of the regional arrangements or agencies in the maintenance of international peace and security,

He hoped that the Sixth Committee would adopt by consensus the draft declaration on the enhancement of cooperation between the United Nations and regional arrangements or agencies in the maintenance of international peace and security.
٢٦ - وأعرب عن أمله في أن تعتمد اللجنة السادسة بتوافق اﻵراء مشروع اﻹعلان الخاص بتعزيز التعاون بين اﻷمم المتحدة والتنظيمات أو الوكالات الاقليمية في صيانة السلم واﻷمن الدوليين.

It was observed that the activities of the United Nations and of regional arrangements or agencies in the maintenance of international peace and security should be complementary, and that this objective could be better achieved if the United Nations and regional arrangements or agencies considered the possibility of cooperating with each other at the earliest possible stage in a dispute.
