The General Assembly should adopt a resolution allowing the United Nations to hold a world conference on disaster reduction to conclude the review of the Yokohama Strategy, upgrade it to reflect fully the guiding principles of the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation and identify specific policy measures to put it into effect.
