At the informal pre-session consultation chaired by the First Vice-Chair, Antonio García Revilla (Peru), held on 9 March 2012, the Commission conducted a preliminary review of draft resolutions that had been submitted in advance of the session and dealt with organizational matters of the fifty-fifth session.

Mr. García Revilla (Peru) said that the outcome of the informal working group on the future, including programmes and resources, of UNIDO was not in the same category as the Lima Declaration, a ministerial document with strong political content, which would be a landmark for the future of UNIDO.

Mr. García Revilla (Peru), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, thanked Peru for offering to host the fifteenth session of the General Conference and was confident that the decision would be endorsed at the current session of the Board.

In accordance with rule 23 of the rules of procedure, the Board elected by acclamation H.E. Mr. H. Böck (Austria) as President, H.E. Mr. A. García Revilla (Peru), H.E. Mr. Y. Kazykhanov (Kazakhstan) and Ms. A. Leśnodorska (Poland) as Vice-Presidents, and Mr. M. Bukheet (Sudan) as Rapporteur.

Mr. García Revilla (Peru) said that consensus had been reached in informal consultations on the text of the draft resolution entitled " UNIDO and the post-2015 United Nations development agenda negotiations " which he had introduced at the Committee's first meeting.
