The Committee also draws the State party's attention to the Committee's general comment No. 2 of 2002 on the role of independent national human rights institutions in the promotion and protection of the rights of the child.

617. In light of its general comment No. 2 (2002) on the role of independent national human rights institutions in the protection and promotion of the rights of the child, the Committee recommends that the State party:

Also recognizes the role of independent national human rights institutions in working together with their Governments to ensure full respect for human rights at the national level, including by contributing to follow-up actions, as appropriate, to the recommendations resulting from international human rights mechanisms;
