A temporary or fixed-term appointment shall expire automatically and without prior notice on the expiration date specified in the letter of appointment.

Under the current system, a staff member whose fixed-term appointment is terminated before the expiration date specified in the letter of appointment is entitled to a termination indemnity in accordance with the schedule set out in paragraph (a) of annex III to the Staff Rules.
