The delegation also suggested that UNHCR carry out a study on international customary refugee law - as done by the International Committee of the Red Cross on international humanitarian law - setting out basic legal obligations for protecting refugees, even by States that have not acceded to the 1951 Convention.

Recalls that every child has the right to acquire a nationality, recognizes the special needs of children for protection against arbitrary deprivation of nationality, and encourages States that have not acceded to the Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and the Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness to consider doing so;
