On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit the text of a letter dated 12 June 1998 addressed to you by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Mr. Mohammed Said Al-Sahaf, on the subject of the continued Turkish aggression against the territory and airspace of Iraq.

I refer to my letter of 16 November 1996 concerning continuing violations of the territory and airspace of the Republic of Iraq by Turkish armed forces (S/1996/951, annex) and should like to inform you that, on a variety of pretexts, such forces are still engaging in military operations inside Iraq's territory and in its airspace.

The Government of Iraq protests in the strongest terms against this violation of its territory and airspace by the Turkish armed forces, and it calls upon the Turkish Government to withdraw its invading forces from Iraqi territory forthwith and to desist from any repetition of practices that are incompatible with relations of good neighbourliness and the principles of international law and of the Charter of the United Nations.
إن حكومة جمهورية العراق تحتج بشدة على خرق حرمة أراضي وأجواء جمهورية العراق من قِبل القوات المسلحة التركية، وتطالب الحكومة التركية بسحب قواتها الغازية من داخل اﻷراضي العراقية فورا والكف عن تكرار هذه الممارسات التي تتناقض مع علاقات حسن الجوار ومبادئ القانون الدولي وميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة.

I should like to inform you that United States and British armed forces continue to carry out acts of aggression against the integrity of Iraq's territory and airspace, in flagrant violation of the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law.
أود إبلاغ سيادتكم بأن اﻷعمال العدوانية التي تقوم بها القوات المسلحة اﻷمريكية والبريطانية ضد حرمة أراضي وأجواء العراق ما تزال تتواصل وبما يشكل خرقا فاضحا ﻷحكام ميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة وقواعد القانون الدولي.

These grave violations are part of a series of persistent and provocative Israeli violations of Lebanese territory and airspace and go against the principles of international law, the resolutions of international legitimacy and your repeated calls for their cessation.
تأتي هذه الخروقات الخطيرة في إطار سلسلة الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية الاستفزازية والمتمادية على حرمة الأجواء والأراضي اللبنانية، وبشكل يتعارض مع مبادئ القانون الدولي وقرارات الشرعية الدولية، ومع ما دعيتم إليه تكرارا من ضرورة وقفها.

By such claims, the Islamic Republic of Iran is endeavouring to place responsibility for its internal problems on Iraq and to export its internal problems beyond its borders, without observing or respecting the sovereignty of Iraq and the inviolability of its national territory and airspace.
إن ايران تحاول، بتلك الادعاءات، القاء تبعة مشاكلها الداخلية على العراق وتحاول تصدير مشاكلها الداخلية الى خارج الحدود دون مراعاة واحترام لسيادة العراق وحرمة أراضيه وأجوائه الوطنية.
