I also wish to extend a very heartfelt welcome to our new colleagues, Ambassadors Kunadi of India, Voto—Bernales of Peru, Grey of the United States, Palihakkara of Sri Lanka, Binh of Viet Nam and Khorram of Iran, as well as the Ambassador of Chile.
كما أنني أود أن أعرب عن ترحيبي الحار بزملائنا الجدد، السفير كونادي من الهند والسفير فوتو برنالس من بيرو، والسفير غراي من الولايات المتحدة، والسفير بالي هاخارا من سري لانكا، والسفير بنه من فييت نام، والسفير خورام من إيران، وكذلك سفير شيلي.

Therefore my delegation fully endorses the statement made by the Ambassador of Chile, and equally, reiterating my support and my hope that this Conference will be able to renew the mandates of the four Special Coordinators, I attach special importance to the renewal of the appointment of the Ambassador of Australia because of the special characteristics attached to his case.

The cooperative relations between the WCO and specialized United Nations institutions, and the various memorandums of understanding concluded with these United Nations bodies — which we have just heard about from the Ambassador of Chile — are a sound testament to this.
إن العلاقات التعاونية القائمة بين المنظمة العالمية للجمارك والمؤسسات المتخصصة التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة، وشتى مذكرات التفاهم المبرمة مع هذه الهيئات التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة - التي سمعنا عنها للتو من سفير شيلي - لهي شهادة طيبة على هذا اﻷمر.

We would also like to express our gratitude to you and to all the members of the Conference, for supporting the commendable decision to accept the Syrian Arab Republic as a full member of the Conference. We also extend our thanks to all those who have helped to achieve this result, including, most recently, the Coordinator of the Group of 23, His Excellency the Ambassador of Chile, whom we thank for his untiring efforts.

As Latin Americans we are proud - as the Ambassador of Chile said not long ago - to be really active militants for disarmament, rather than just broadcasting rhetoric.
