Article 51 (2), of Additional Protocol I states: " the civilian population as such, as well as individual civilians, shall not be the object of attack.

– That the passive subject of the attack was the civilian population as such or individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities;
- أن يكون موضوع الفعل السكان المدنيون بصفتهم هذه أو أشخاص مدنيون لا يشاركون مباشرة في اﻷعمال الحربية.

٣ - تعمد مرتكب الجريمة أن يستهدف بالهجمات السكان المدنيين بصفتهم هذه أو أفراد مدنيين غير مشتركين مباشرة في اﻷعمال الحربية.

3. The accused intended the object of the attack to be the civilian population as such or individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities.
٣ - أن يكون المتهم قد تعمﱠد توجيه هجمات ضد السكان المدنيين بصفتهم هذه أو ضد أفراد مدنيين لا يشاركون مباشرة في اﻷعمال الحربية.

3. The perpetrator intended the civilian population as such or individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities to be the object of the attack.
3 - أن يتعمد مرتكب الجريمة جعل هدف الهجوم السكان المدنيين بصفتهم هذه أو أفرادا مدنيين لا يشاركون مباشرة في الأعمال الحربية.

3. The perpetrator intended the civilian population as such or individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities to be the object of the attack.
3 - أن يتعمد مرتكب الجريمة توجيه الهجوم ضد السكان المدنيين بصفتهم هذه أو ضد أفراد مدنيين لا يشاركون مباشرة في الأعمال الحربية.

12. The principle of distinction means in this context that directing an attack with cluster munitions against the civilian population as such or against individual civilians is prohibited.
12- ويعني مبدأ التفرقة في هذا السياق حظر توجيه هجوم بذخائر عنقودية ضد سكان مدنيين بصفتهم هذه أو ضد مدنيين أفراد.
