1. In its resolution 46/73 B of 11 December 1991, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit reports of the Joint United Nations Information Committee to the Committee on Information at its consecutive sessions.

In the same resolution, the General Assembly called on the Department to provide specific information on a number of its activities for the consideration of the Committee on Information at its thirty-second session.

2. In a related decision, the General Assembly, in paragraph 4 of its resolution 47/73 B, adopted on the recommendation of the Special Political Committee and of the Committee on Information at its fourteenth session, requested the Secretary-General:

Acknowledges the importance of the Yearbook of the United Nations as an authoritative reference work, welcomes the work of the Department of Public Information in expanding the content and the functions of the website of the Yearbook, and requests the Department to assess the readership of the Yearbook in order to evaluate its impact and to report thereon to the Committee on Information at its thirty-seventh session;
