As concerns States that have not ratified the relevant Conventions, information may be submitted to the ILO under the follow-up to the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, adopted in 1998.

In 1998, ILO adopted the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, based on the concept that “economic growth is essential but not sufficient to ensure equity, social progress and the eradication of poverty, confirming the need for ILO to promote strong social policies, justice and democratic institutions”.
