(i) Strengthening of the Emergency Operations Centre. Using modern telecommunications and satellite connections permitting instant decision-making, the Centre will operate specialized databases, computer-generated maps and appropriate voice, fax and electronic mail facilities.

44. Upon enquiry, the Advisory Committee was provided with additional information on the role and organization of the Emergency Operations Centre, which can be summarized as follows:
