52. The United Nations system continues to provide technical cooperation assistance and advisory services of a professional, impartial and non-commercial nature in the field of mineral resources, at the request of Member States.

Just as the evolutions in the funding of technical cooperation activities in mineral resources have led to reductions in these activities, the current budgetary reductions and the financial situation in the United Nations Secretariat have meant a curtailing of normative activities in the field of mineral resources and have also led to a reduction in support staff.
