1. On 20 June 2005, the fifteenth Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea appointed a Credentials Committee consisting of the following nine members: Bahamas, Canada, Czech Republic, Greece, Grenada, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa and Uganda.

4. The Committee had before it a memorandum by the Secretariat, dated 17 June 2005, on the status of credentials of representatives participating in the fifteenth Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The Legal Counsel drew the attention of the Commission to the fact that during the fifteenth Meeting of States Parties to the Convention held in June 2005, several delegations, in particular those whose submissions had already been made to the Commission, had expressed concern regarding the consistency of rule 52 of the rules of procedure of the Commission with the provisions of article 5 of annex II to the Convention.
