At its 47th meeting, on 19 December, the President informed the Council that the incoming Bureau for 2009 would review the application for observer status of and relevant information provided by the International Emergency Management Organization in consultation with the Secretariat, and the Council would revert to the matter at a subsequent date (see E/2008/SR.47).

With the aim of supporting the integration process of the International Emergency Management Organization into the United Nations system, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Macedonia has sent letters with similar content to the President of the General Assembly and the President of the Economic and Social Council.

the International Emergency Management Organization (IEMO) is an intergovernmental organization established on 14 April 2006 and governed by statutes, open to States and international organizations, endowed with juridical personality under international law; it is composed of a decision-making Council and a directional secretariat.
المنظمة الدولية لإدارة حالات الطوارئ منظمة حكومية دولية أنشئت في 14 نيسان/أبريل 2006، ويحكمها نظام أساسي يفتح باب الانضمام إليها للدول والمنظمات الدولية، وتمتلك شخصية قانونية بمقتضى القانون الدولي وتتألف من مجلس مهمته صنع القرار وأمانة تتولى إدارة شؤونه.

Taking into account the relevance of its activity to matters of interest to the General Assembly, the participation of the International Emergency Management Organization in the sessions of the General Assembly in the capacity of observer will decidedly enhance its effectiveness in the service of the United Nations system.
وبالنظر إلى صلة هذه الأنشطة بالأمور التي تهم الجمعية العامة، من شأن مشاركة المنظمة الدولية لإدارة حالات الطوارئ في دورات الجمعية العامة بصفة مراقب أن تزيد بلا شك فعاليتها في خدمة منظومة الأمم المتحدة.
