The Meeting, reaffirming the previous positions of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), deeply regretted the Verdict issued against the Libyan citizen Abdelbassit Al-Megrahi, and demanded his release, since his illegal conviction was based on pure political motive as was confirmed by the United Nations Observers, Eminent International Lawyers and witnesses.
كما أكد مجددا المواقف السابقة لمنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي وأعرب عن أسفه العميق للحكم الذي صدر في حق المواطن الليبي عبد الباسط المقرحي، وطالب بإطلاق سراحه فورا، معتبرا أن اعتقاله غير قانوني وأنه تم بناء على مبررات سياسية صرفة مثلما أكد ذلك مراقبو الأمم المتحدة ومحامون دوليون بارزون وشهود.

173. The Heads of State or Government expressed their deep regret over the conviction of the Libyan citizen Abdulbsit El-Maghrahi, including that of the appeal decision issued on 14 March 2002.
173- وأعرب رؤساء الدول أو الحكومات عن بالغ أسفهم لإدانة المواطن الليبي عبد الباسط المغربي، بما في ذلك حكم الاستئناف الصادر في 14 مارس /آذار 2002.

2. Request the immediate release of the Libyan citizen Abdel Basit El Magrahi, who has been sentenced on political grounds unrelated to law or justice;

4. To demand the immediate release of the Libyan citizen Abdel Basset AlMegrahi, who has been convicted for political reasons totally unrelated to the law, and who, under all applicable laws and customs, may be regarded as a hostage;
4 - المطالبة بالإفراج الفوري عن المواطن الليبي عبد الباسط المقرحي الذي تمت إدانته بموجب أسباب سياسية لا تمت إلى القانون بأية صلة، واعتباره في حالة استمرار حجزه، رهينة طبقا لكل القوانين والأعراف ذات الصلة.

It reaffirmed the OIC's previous positions, reiterating its deep deploration of the ruling against the Libyan citizen Abdul Basit Al-Megrahi, as his condemnation was based on political motives and had no legal justification, as was affirmed by the United Nations Observers and a number of International Legal Experts.
كما أكد مجددا المواقف السابقة لمنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي وأعرب عن أسفه العميق للحكم الذي صدر في حق المواطن الليبي عبد الباسط المقرحي، معتبرا أن اعتقاله غير قانوني وأنه تم بناء على مبررات سياسية مثلما أكد ذلك مراقبو الأمم المتحدة وعدد من الخبراء القانونيين الدوليين.

4 - يدعو الرأي العام العالمي لإدانة الدوافع السياسية التي وقفت وراء خضوع المواطن الليبي عبد الباسط المقرحي لحكم أخذ عليه الخبراء القانونيون عدة عيوب؛

48. The Conference reiterated the necessity of paying due attention to the final lifting of the embargo against the Libyan people and compensating them for the losses resulting from the application of Security Council Resolutions 848/93 and 883/99. It demanded the release of the Libyan citizen and political hostage Abdul Baset El-Migrahi.
48 - أكد المؤتمر ضرورة إيلاء العناية الواجبة من أجل رفع الحظر نهائياً عن الشعب الليبي وتعويضه عما لحق به من خسائر تطبيق قراري مجلس الأمن رقم 848/93 و 883/93، وطالب بإطلاق سراح المواطن الليبي الرهينة السياسي عبد الباسط المقرحي.

3. Regrets the condemnation of one of the two Libyan citizens and expresses its conviction that the innocence of one means the innocence of the other since the assumptions underlying their accusation are the same and demands the release of the Libyan citizen, considered as a political hostage, Abdul Baset Al Megrahi.
