Since the presentation to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women of Nigeria’s combined second and third periodic reports on the implementation of the Convention in 1998, his Government had taken steps to address the problems identified by the Committee, in particular the persistence of harmful traditional practices that affected the health of Nigerian women and girls.
