In its resolution 1993/77 of 10 March 1993 the Commission requested the Secretary-General to compile an analytical report on the practice of forced evictions.

It is also important that both the Sub-Commission and the Commission have recognized and affirmed that the practice of forced evictions constitutes a gross violation of human rights, in particular the right to adequate housing.

23. Finally, the role of non-governmental organizations in the prevention and elimination of the practice of forced evictions must be underlined. Their role is one of great importance and should be strongly promoted.

8. The Commission on Human Rights, in its resolution 1993/77, affirmed that the practice of forced evictions constituted a gross violation of human rights, in particular the right to adequate housing and urged Governments to undertake immediate measures, at all levels, aimed at eliminating the practice.
٨- وقد أكدت لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان في قرارها ٣٩٩١/٧٧ أن ممارسة اﻹخلاء القسري تشكل انتهاكاً جسيماً لحقوق اﻹنسان، ولا سيما الحق في السكن اللائق.

6. Although the practice of forced evictions might appear to occur primarily in heavily populated urban areas, it also takes place in connection with forced population transfers, internal displacement, forced relocations in the context of armed conflict, mass exoduses and refugee movements.
