In accordance with a decision taken by the Trade and Development Board at its eighteenth special session, the Board will launch the preparatory process for the ninth session of the Conference by establishing an open-ended Committee of the Whole, to meet under the chairmanship of the President of the Board.

The work of UNCTAD, under the Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Carlos Fortin, was dominated during the past year by the forty-first session of the Trade and Development Board and its subsidiary bodies, and the United Nations International Symposium on Trade Efficiency, as well as by the preparatory process for the ninth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

6. At its 4th meeting, on 16 April, the Committee had before it an informal paper entitled “Contribution to the preparatory process for the ninth session of the Commission on Sustainable Development”.
٦ - في الجلسة الرابعة المعقودة في ١٦ نيسان/أبريل، عُرضت على اللجنة ورقة غير رسمية عنوانها " المساهمة في العملية التحضيرية للدورة التاسعة للجنة التنمية المستدامة " .

4. Decides to transmit the report of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources for Development on its first session to the Commission at its eighth session, as well as to the Group of Experts at its first session, as an input to the preparatory process for the ninth session of the Commission;
٤ - يقرر أن يحيل تقرير اللجنة المعنية بتسخير الطاقة والموارد الطبيعية ﻷغراض التنمية عن أعمال دورتها اﻷولى إلى لجنة التنمية المستدامة في دورتها الثامنة، وكذلك إلى فريق الخبراء في دورته اﻷولى، كمساهمة في العملية التحضيرية للدورة التاسعة للجنة التنمية المستدامة؛

247. At its tenth executive session, held on 4 May, the Trade and Development Board agreed that appropriate exploratory work should be undertaken on such new and emerging issues on the international trade agenda within the preparatory process for the ninth session of UNCTAD.
٢٤٧ - وفي الدورة التنفيذية العاشرة لمجلس التجارة والتنمية، المعقودة في ٤ أيار/مايو ١٩٩٥، وافق المجلس على " أن يجري الاضطلاع باﻷعمال الاستطلاعية الملائمة بشأن تلك القضايا الجديدة والناشئة على جدول أعمال التجارة الدولية وذلك في إطار العملية التحضيرية للدورة التاسعة لﻷونكتاد " .

7. At the same meeting, the Committee decided to submit the informal paper as a contribution to the preparatory process for the ninth session of the Commission on Sustainable Development, in accordance with the provisions of Economic and Social Council resolution 1998/46 (see chap. I, sect. C, decision 1/1).
