The aim of the International Association of Judges is to permit the completion of the Basic Principles on the Independence of the Judiciary approved by the Seventh United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders, held in Milan from 26 August to 6 September 1985, and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.
