Under the terms of operative paragraph 1 of draft resolution A/62/L.29, the General Assembly would decide to hold a high-level meeting on " Africa's development needs: state of implementation of various commitments, challenges and the way forward " on 22 September 2008, prior to the general debate of the sixty-third session of the Assembly.
1 - تنص الفقرة 1 من منطوق مشروع القرار A/62/L.29 على أن تقرر الجمعية العامة عقد اجتماع رفيع المستوى بشأن " احتياجات أفريقيا الإنمائية: حالة تنفيذ شتى الالتزامات، والتحديات، وطريقة التقدم للأمام " ، وذلك يوم 22 أيلول/سبتمبر 2008، قبل المناقشة العامة للدورة الثالثة والستين للجمعية العامة.

If, as he believed, the matter was to be considered at the main part of the sixty-third session of the Assembly, almost three years would have passed since its completion.

At its 2nd meeting, on 19 October 2007, the General Committee decided to recommend to the General Assembly that this item be deferred to the sixty-third session of the Assembly and that it be included in the provisional agenda of that session.

120. The Co-Chairpersons encouraged early identification by the General Assembly of the topics to be discussed by the Consultative Process in the next few years notwithstanding the fact that the effectiveness and utility of the Process would be reviewed at the sixty-third session of the Assembly.

4. In paragraph 9 of its resolution 62/204, the General Assembly decided to hold two days of high-level plenary meetings devoted to the midterm review of the Almaty Programme of Action during the sixty-third session of the Assembly in New York.
