35. Background: COP 18 established a work programme under the SBI, for 2013 - 2014, to further the understanding of the diversity of nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs).

The SBI will be invited to prepare conclusions on the process of furthering the understanding of the diversity of NAMAs, in accordance with SBI 40 conclusions on this matter, and to report to COP 20 on the outcomes of this process.

Decides to establish a work programme to further the understanding of the diversity of the nationally appropriate mitigation actions referred to in paragraphs 14 - 16 above under the Subsidiary Body for Implementation, with a view to facilitating the preparation and implementation of those nationally appropriate mitigation actions, including on:

The SBI also took note of the information provided by the experts at the in-session workshop to further the understanding of the diversity of nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs), as well as of the discussions that took place during the workshop, with a view to facilitating the preparation and implementation of NAMAs.

Decides to continue, in 2012, workshops, in a structured manner, to further the understanding of the diversity of mitigation actions as communicated and contained in document FCCC/AWGLCA/2011/INF.1, underlying assumptions and any support needed for the implementation of these actions, noting different national circumstances and the respective capabilities of developing country Parties;
