140. In accordance with Council decision 1993/207, the Commission on Sustainable Development consists of one representative from each of 53 members elected by the Council from among the States Members of the United Nations and members of the specialized agencies on the basis of an equitable geographical distribution, according to the following pattern:

٢ - ووصفت الجمعية العامة في قرارها ٥١/٢٠٢ العملية التنظيمية للدورة الاستثنائية، وأنشأت في قرارها ٥٢/٢٥ لجنة تحضيرية مفتوحة لمشاركة جميع الدول اﻷعضاء في اﻷمم المتحدة واﻷعضاء في الوكالات المتخصصة، بمشاركة مراقبين وفقا للممارسات المعمول بها في الجمعية العامة.

51. Decides to establish a Preparatory Committee open to the participation of all States Members of the United Nations and members of the specialized agencies, with the participation of observers in accordance with the established practice of the General Assembly, and that the Preparatory Committee will hold an organizational session of four days' duration, from 19 to 22 May 1998;
