My delegation is pleased to note that progress has been achieved in some key areas, notably the enhanced collaboration between the United Nations system and the Commission of the African Union, as well as the strengthening of the cluster system, under which the support of the United Nations system for the implementation of NEPAD is organized.

Specifically, and perhaps above all, additional and sufficient financial resources should be available to the United Nations system for the implementation of specific programmes under these initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development in African countries.
