Under the biannual agenda items on cooperation between the United Nations and other international organizations, in its resolution 59/9 on cooperation with the League of Arab States, the General Assembly called upon the specialized agencies and other organizations and programmes of the United Nations system to increase their cooperation with the League of Arab States in its priority sectors, including the empowerment of women.
