فتنص المادة المذكورة على ما يلي: " يعد الصحفيون الذين يباشرون مهمات مهنية خطيرة في مناطق المنازعات المسلحة أشخاصاً مدنيين " و " يجب حمايتهم بهذه الصفة بمقتضى أحكام الاتفاقيات وهذا البروتوكول، شريطة ألا يقوموا بأي عمل يسيء إلى وضعهم كأشخاص مدنيين " .
