Delegations participated in several events at United Nations Headquarters in New York, including those related to the Commission on the Status of Women, the Commission for Social Development, the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, the World Interfaith Harmony Week, the Commission on Sustainable Development and the special event to follow up on efforts made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals held on 25 September 2013.

We affirm the aspirational outcome document of the special event to follow up on efforts made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals adopted by the Heads of State and Government and heads of delegation on 9 October 2013 (General Assembly resolution 68/6).

(a) Took note of the report of the Secretary-General on accelerating the AIDS response: achieving the targets of the 2011 Political Declaration, and the recommendations contained therein, as input for consideration in preparations for the special event of the General Assembly in 2013 to follow up on efforts made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals and in discussions to formulate the post2015 United Nations development agenda;

19. In the outcome document of the special event to follow up on efforts made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (September 2013) it was recognized that sustainable development is at the core of the post-2015 development agenda.
