12. In paragraph 7 (l) of the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development,4 the Convention to Combat Desertification is acknowledged as one of the tools for poverty eradication.

The COP welcomed, in decision 2/COP.6, the " recognition by the WSSD of the UNCCD as one of the tools for poverty eradication " , underlined " the importance of the implementation of the Convention for meeting the MDGs " , and further welcomed " the call made by the WSSD to strengthen the implementation of the UNCCD to address poverty by, inter alia, mobilizing adequate and predictable financial resources " .
8- ورحب مؤتمر الأطراف، في مقرره 2/م أ-6، " بتسليم مؤتمر القمة العالمي للتنمية المستدامة بأن اتفاقية مكافحة التصحر واحدة من أدوات القضاء على الفقر " ، وأكد على " أهمية تنفيذ الاتفاقية لتحقيق الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية " ، كما رحب " بالدعوة الموجهة من مؤتمر القمة العالمي للتنمية المستدامة لتعزيز تنفيذ الاتفاقية من أجل التصدي للفقر بطرق عدة منها تعبئة موارد مالية كافية ويمكن التنبؤ بها " .
