Although paragraphs 37 and 38 of annex I of the latter resolution provide the particular terms of reference for our work on this subject, we believe that the ultimate objective of our exercise should be to contribute to strengthening the mandate of the United Nations in development and economic matters, and restoring these matters to the centre of the United Nations agenda.
